Adopt Me Pet Name Generator

Type a pet name below. Before you copy one, know the catch that no other Adopt Me fonts page mentions: a pet name is checked by a different filter than your Roblox display name, so a style that saved on your account can still be refused on a pet.

Showing 24 of 32 font styles
What the badges under each style mean

Each badge grades the rarest characters a style uses, so a style is only rated as safe as its riskiest character. Nothing here is rated as working unless there is a reason behind it.

  • ✓ works observed rendering in that field.
  • ! disputed sources contradict each other and none of them is primary.
  • ? untested no public evidence either way. This does not mean it fails.
  • ✗ blocked the platform was seen returning a real error for it.
  • Adopt Me For a pet name, which goes through the chat filter rather than the display name filter, and truncates near twelve characters on the nametag.
  • Roblox For your display name only. A Roblox username is letters, numbers and one underscore, so no style on this site works there. Grades come from the evidence table further down this site's Roblox page.

Press any badge to see which character block decided its grade.

Quick answer

A pet name is not filtered the same way your Roblox display name is, so a style already saved on your account can still be refused on a pet. Aim for twelve visible characters rather than twenty, because the nametag and the trade window both cut off around there. Renaming a pet is free and repeatable, so testing costs you nothing.

Why a pet name is filtered differently from your display name

This is the finding this page exists for, and no other Adopt Me fonts page mentions it.

The finding this page exists for. A pet name in Adopt Me is checked by Roblox's standard text filter, the same one applied to ordinary chat, rather than by the display name character filter. There is no Adopt Me specific bypass and no separate Adopt Me allow list. That means a style you already have saved on your Roblox display name has not been tested against the filter your pet name will meet, and the reverse is also true. Community write up on Adopt Me name filtering

Why it matters in practice: the chat filter is the stricter of the two. It exists to stop people hiding words behind lookalike characters, which is exactly what a Unicode font style is made of. So the styles most likely to trip it are the ones that replace every letter, and the safest thing you can do is leave the letters alone and add one symbol beside them.

Everything about your own account name lives on the Roblox name generator instead: the twenty character display name cap, the two different rejection messages, and why an ordinary first name is sometimes unavailable. That page is for you, this one is for your pets.

Adopt Me pet name compatibility by Unicode block

Graded the same way as our other game tables. Notice how little is confirmed here, and that this is not laziness: confirming a row would mean transferring evidence across a filter boundary, and the whole point of the section above is that you cannot do that.

Unicode blockExampleCost per characterStatusNotes
Basic LatinU+0041 to U+007AMilo Bee 121 unitConfirmedPlain letters and numbers. The only thing here that is certain, and with a twelve character nametag it is also the option that shows the most actual name.
Phonetic Extensions and IPAU+1D00 to U+1D7Fᴍɪʟᴏ ʙᴇᴇ1 unitDisputedSmall caps. The most recommended style for Adopt Me and the most likely to be fine, but the recommendation comes from generator sites. One unit each, so it costs you no nametag space.
DingbatsU+2700 to U+27BF✿ ❀ ✦ ♡1 unitDisputedA single symbol beside the name. Under a chat filter a decorative character is more suspicious than it is in a display name, so one is a better bet than a pair.
Miscellaneous SymbolsU+2600 to U+26FF★ ☾ ♥1 unitDisputedSame evidence class as Dingbats and usually named in the same breath by the same sources.
Mathematical Alphanumeric SymbolsU+1D400 to U+1D7FF𝓜𝓲𝓵𝓸 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗼2 unitsDisputedBold and cursive. Two problems at once: the sources disagree about whether they pass, and each letter is two units, so a six letter pet name already spends twelve.
Enclosed AlphanumericsU+2460 to U+24FFⓂⓘⓛⓞ1 unitUntestedBubble letters. No public report either way for pet names specifically.
CJK Symbols and PunctuationU+3000 to U+303F「 」 【 】1 unitBlockedObserved rejected by the Roblox display name filter. We have no separate pet name observation, but a block refused by the looser of the two filters is not worth trying against the stricter one.
Combining Diacritical MarksU+0300 to U+036FM̶i̶l̶o̶2 unitsUntestedStrikethrough and underline. Stacked marks are the classic filter evasion pattern, so of everything on this page these are the most likely to be read as a bypass attempt.

Pages promising that 176 or 200 styles all work in Adopt Me are counting what their generator can produce, not what the game will accept. Those are different numbers and nobody has measured the second one.

Twelve characters, not twenty

The reported cap is around twenty characters, but the nametag above the pet and the trade window both truncate near twelve, so twelve is the number worth designing to. Styled letters from the mathematical alphabets cost two units each, which means a six letter name in bold cursive has already used the whole twelve.

So the budget is tighter than it looks, and it gets tighter the more you style it. Small caps costs one unit a letter, which leaves you a real name. Bold cursive costs two, which leaves you six letters before the nametag clips it. Adding a symbol on each side spends two more. A name that reads perfectly in the tool above can arrive in game as five letters and half a bracket.

The styles in the tool are ordered with that in mind: the cheapest and most likely to pass come first, the two unit alphabets come last. If you want to see the same arithmetic worked through against a different cap, the PUBG and BGMI generator does it for a fourteen character limit.

How to name a pet in Adopt Me

  1. Type the name into the tool at the top of this page.
  2. Tap a style to copy it. Start near the top of the list.
  3. Open your inventory in game and select the pet.
  4. Use the rename option and paste the name in.
  5. If it is refused, drop the decoration before you drop the style. Symbols are more likely than letters to read as a bypass attempt.

Renaming is free and you can do it again, which makes this the easiest naming field on our whole site to experiment in. A Roblox display name locks you out for a week and a game rename card costs money; a pet name costs a few seconds. If a style saves, you have learned something the public record does not contain.

Pet name ideas that actually fit

Every Adopt Me name list ignores the twelve character nametag, which is why so many of the names on them arrive cut in half. These hold up:

  • Short and soft. One or two syllables in small caps. A name like ᴍɪʟᴏ or ʙᴇʀʀʏ fits with room to spare and reads clearly at nametag size, which is smaller than you think.
  • Name plus one symbol. A single ♡ or ✿ on one side rather than a matched pair. It costs one character instead of two and gives the filter half as much to object to.
  • Matched to the pet. A frost theme on a snow pet, a fruit name on a bright one. This does nothing for the filter and everything for how the name reads in a trade window.
  • Avoid stacking. Cursive letters plus a bracket pair plus an emoji is three separate things for the filter to weigh and roughly zero characters left for the actual name.

If you want the decoration on its own to try beside a plain name, the symbols copy and paste picker has every heart, star and flower as a single character, and the cute font generator carries the softer alphabets for the places outside the game where no filter applies.

What we could not verify

Which blocks the chat filter accepts in a pet name. Not one of them, beyond plain letters. Adopt Me publishes nothing, Roblox publishes nothing about the filter's character set, and the generator pages in this niche state their claims without testing them. Every disputed row in the table above is disputed for that reason and not because we ran out of time.

We also could not verify the exact truncation point on the nametag. The reported cap is around twenty characters and the visible cut is somewhere near twelve, but that varies with the letters themselves, since a wide letter takes more room than a narrow one. Twelve is a safe working number rather than a measured one.

Because renaming a pet is free, this is the one table on our site that anybody can improve in a minute. If you save a pet name using a style from a disputed row, tell us through the contact page and we will grade the row up with credit.

Frequently asked questions

Why was my Adopt Me pet name rejected when the same style works on my display name?

Because they are checked by two different systems. Your Roblox display name goes through a character filter that returns the message that a name contains unsupported characters. A pet name goes through Roblox's standard text filter, the same one that checks ordinary chat, which is built to catch attempts to hide words behind lookalike characters. The chat filter is the stricter of the two, so passing one tells you nothing about the other.

What is the Adopt Me pet name character limit?

Reported at around twenty characters, but that is not the number that matters. A pet name is drawn on the nametag above the pet and inside the trade window, and both cut it off somewhere near twelve. So the practical limit is twelve visible characters, and past that you are typing letters nobody will ever read.

Can you use symbols and fancy fonts in Adopt Me pet names?

Some people clearly do, and some styles are just as clearly refused, and nobody has published which is which. Because a pet name runs through the chat filter, decorative symbols are more likely to be read as an attempt to disguise a word than they are in a display name. The table on this page grades each block by the evidence behind it rather than promising that all of them work.

How do you name a pet in Adopt Me?

Open your inventory, tap the pet you want to name, then use the rename option and type the name. It is free and you can rename a pet again later, which matters here: unlike a Roblox display name, which you can only change once a week, testing a pet name costs you nothing but a moment.

Do Adopt Me pet name generators actually work?

They generate real Unicode text, so the copying part works. What they do not do is check it against the filter the game will actually use, and most of them do not mention that a pet name and a display name are filtered differently. Treat any page promising that 176 or 200 styles all work in Adopt Me as an untested claim, including the numbers on the tools we link to.

What are good Adopt Me pet names?

Short ones. Because the nametag truncates around twelve characters, a two syllable word with at most one decorative symbol reads better in game than anything longer, no matter how good it looks in a generator. Matching a name to the pet, then styling it in small caps, is the combination most likely to both fit and save.
